Colonel Joe Bybee (953)

Colonel Joe Bybee is chief of the Monticello Police Department. He joined the department in 2003.  He served as a patrolman, sergeant, assistant chief and acting chief before being appointed as chief of police in January, 2019.

Colonel Bybee began his law enforcement career as a deputy jailer in McCreary County in 1990.  He later served as a sergeant and interim jailer before becoming a deputy with the McCreary County Sheriff's Office.  While working with the MCSO he was promoted to sergeant and later to assistant chief deputy.
